Fortinet Validates Hyperscale DDoS Defense for FortiGate 4800F Firewall

Fortinet chose the Keysight APS-M8400 network cybersecurity test platform to validate the hyperscale distributed denial of service (DDoS) defense capabilities and carrier-grade performance of its FortiGate 4800F next generation firewall (NGFW).

 

The APS-M8400 is the industry’s first and highest-density 8-port 400GE QSFP-DD network security test platform, and the FortiGate 4800F is powered by 16 of Fortinet’s custom NP7 network processors.

 

Carrier networks, data center operators, and service providers face exponential growth in cyberattacks, including DDoS attacks, which increased 40% in just six months, with the record-setting Rapid Reset attack peaking at 398 million requests per second. Fortinet needed a test solution powerful enough to validate the FortiGate 4800F’s carrier-grade performance and security capabilities before deploying it in a live customer network.

 

Fortinet needed to validate that its FortiGate 4800F next generation firewall (NGFW) could defend against hyperscale DDoS attacks while continuing to process multi-terabit volumes of legitimate customer traffic, ahead of deploying the firewall in live carrier and data center networks.

 

Fortinet needed an application and security test solution powerful enough to generate legitimate and malicious traffic at hyperscale, multi-terabit volumes, and to validate the FortiGate 4800F’s carrier-grade performance and security capabilities across its 400GE ports before deployment.

 

Fortinet turned to the Keysight APS-M8400 network cybersecurity test platform, the industry’s first and highest-density 8-port 400GE QSFP-DD network security test platform. Using the APS-M8400, Fortinet generated 3 Tbps of legitimate and malicious traffic in a single test, validating the hyperscale firewall protection offered by the FortiGate 4800F.
