Increasing Efficiency of the EV Battery Test Lab

With battery cost being a critical factor in making electric vehicles (EVs) more affordable, it’s vital to have an efficient workflow in a huge test laboratory. Let’s take a look at the typical workflow inside an EV battery test lab, and learn how automating the modern battery test lab can help save both time and money. This frees up the developer’ concentrate on improving battery quality at the cell, module, and pack levels.

Testing EV Batteries at the Cell, Module, and Pack Levels

Electric vehicle (EV) batteries come in different form factors: at the individual cell level, these may be cylindrical cells, or more powerful pouch and prismatic cells. These cells are then assembled into modules, which are in turn, connected to form battery packs, and then assembled into the vehicle chassis. Join our Keysight battery test expert to learn how different battery test parameters at each stage guide how the battery will eventually perform in the EV.

SL1770A Series Scienlab Power Allocation Management Solution for Battery Testing

The battery laboratory design for tomorrow is not the design for today. Bigger, faster, better is not always the right approach. As we transition into a new era of electric vehicles, the battery test requirements have changed. We are now facing batteries with higher capacity, and the tests require higher current while it is needed to monitor the test labs' power consumption closely. The laboratories are reaching a power requirement that the mains supply cannot easily fulfill. In contrast, the test profiles, on average, require low power, and only short peaks need higher power. The logical approach is to share and centralize the power. The Scienlab Power Allocation Management Solution for Battery Testing provides the perfect solution to reduce the total installed power in the test lab while providing unmatched flexibility and test capabilities.
