Qualcomm Creates RF Digital Twin to Generate Repeatable Lab-Based Channel Emulation

Text for the description section: As 5G-Advanced networks evolve and the industry prepares for 6G, Qualcomm Technologies worked with Keysight to explore how digital modeling can help engineers better understand radio frequency performance before deployment. The collaboration connects high-fidelity simulation, lab-based emulation, and over-the-air validation. Using Channel Studio RaySim and Qualcomm Technologies’ multiple-input multiple-output algorithms, the companies demonstrated a repeatable approach for evaluating next-generation wireless systems under realistic operating conditions. AI-based techniques require high-quality channel data and repeatable benchmarks so engineers can train, validate, and compare algorithms with confidence. Without reliable datasets and consistent test conditions, it becomes harder to predict real-world performance. Qualcomm Technologies and Keysight addressed this need by connecting virtual modeling with lab validation and field measurements. The objective was to help bridge the gap between algorithm design, controlled testing, and operating network behavior so engineering teams can make better decisions earlier in the development cycle.

5G Signaling Field to Lab Solution

This document introduces the Keysight 5G Field To Lab solution for Protocol and IMS signaling, which can significantly reduce the time required to replicate a field issue in the lab environment. The document highlights how the KEYS SFTL is an innovative solutions to manage field log complexity and automate network configuration validation. The S-FTL tool extension, built on the Protocol R&D Toolset, provides an efficient approach to these challenges, enhancing the quality and efficiency of 5G service delivery. 5G Device and Chipset manufacturers are investing significant effort to analyze device field logs and convert them into lab-based test cases. The challenge lies in reducing the time taken for this process. The solution offers smart protocol analysis, inconsistency correction, and automatic test case generation, enhancing the efficiency of the field integration workflow. It saves customers the upfront manual effort and time, allowing them to focus on the main problem event. The solution is expected to have a significant impact in two main areas: Automating Field Log Complexity Handling and Automating Network Configuration Validation.
