Application Notes
Advanced Radar systems must detect moving targets in complex detection environments such as noise, clutter, jamming, and interference. Often times, the Radar systems are installed on moving platforms, which further complicates target detection. To accurately detect targets, the solution used must consider the impact caused by the moving targets, as well as the platform motion. One solution that can be used to address the complex problem of both moving targets and Radar station motion is a new generic Scenario Framework Simulation technique. The generic simulation platform needs to address a number of different issues. For example, it must be able to handle many different Radar system configurations. And, it must support a DSP-based signal generation capability, because complexity for advanced Radar signals is increasing and becoming more adaptive. During simulation, cross-domain (DSP-RF) signal processing architectures must also be considered. Additionally, because receiver processing algorithms are growing more sophisticated, designs need to be verified and tested throughout development and during production. Moreover, incredibly complex operation environments must be considered including Radar platform motion, moving targets in a 3D volume and complex signaling environments. The proposed Scenario Framework Simulation platform is capable of modeling all of these issues.
