In order to create a highly efficient battery, it is important to accurately understand and improve the characterization of a battery’s self-discharge, charge and discharge behavior, etc.
One of the important factors to check is the electrical resistance characteristics of the battery electrodes, through which a large current of several hundred amperes flows. Keysight is actively engaged with major industry players to explore these verification methods.
High-accuracy current source
An analyzer widely used for evaluating electrical characteristics of power devices is used as a current source. Current can be applied with basic accuracy of ± 0.6%.
Capacity to apply hundreds of amperes
Up to 500 A (std.) and up to 1500 A (opt.). It allows verification of resistance characteristics when a large current close to the actual operation is applied.
Pulse width 10 μsec
An extremely short current pulse with the minimum duration of 10 μsec can be applied. Evaluation of the true resistance characteristics becomes possible without the influence of heat generation.
High accuracy voltmeter
Applied voltage is measured with a digitizer with a sampling rate of 20 MSa/s and ADC resolution of 16 bits. It enables electrical resistance measurement of several μΩ levels.
Variable pulse width
The pulse width of an applied current can be set arbitrarily by the user. Time-dependent resistance can also be examined.
As a foundation technology for verification of every in-vehicle battery
Can be used to examine the resistance characteristics of the electrode sections of lithium-ion batteries and nickel-metal hydride and all solid batteries.
Battery evaluation
