Application Notes
De-emphasis is a commonly used technique when transmitting electrical signals at gigabit data rates. It compensates for signal integrity issues caused by the channel on printed circuit boards and backplanes. The most popular high-speed electrical standards require transmitter de-emphasis. These standards are: PCI EXPRESS®, SATA 3 Gb/s, fully buffered DIMM, CEI, and 10 Gb Ethernet.
