How do I set up a scan list for an E1411B/E1476A scanning voltmeter?

Consider the following scenario:

I am using the E1411B under a VXI system that has an E1406A as the slot 0 controller. I have been trying to take voltage and temperature measurements from an E1476A MUX. The E1411B keeps reporting errors when I issue the commands to measure a set of channels in a scan list.

The usual source of programming errors when using the E1411B with a MUX is a misconfiguration of the VXI system. The voltmeter.du (D-SCPI) driver installed on the command module is responsible for configuring the E1411B. When an E1411B and an E1476A multiplexer (MUX) are configured at sequential addresses, the driver automatically configures the E1411B as a scanning voltmeter. When the E1411B is configured as a scanning voltmeter it will accept channels lists as a part of its programming instructions. If the E1411B is not configured as a scanning voltmeter then it will not accept channels lists as part of its programming instructions.

For example, an E1411B is at VXI address 24 and an E1476A is at VXI address 25. The two instruments will be combined to form an aggregate unit at address 24. The E1476A will no longer be directly addressable. If we desired to take readings from our scanning voltmeter we could send "MEAS:VOLT:DC? (@100:163)" to the voltmeter. Since we have set the addresses of the E1411B and E1476A at sequential values, the scan list is valid.

If the E1411B and the E1476A were at address 24 and 32 respectively, then we cannot use the E1411B in its scanning mode.
