There are no visible differences, but there is a performance difference relating to the local oscillators. In order to phase-lock two RF channels, the LO's must be connected between two tuners and, in order to obtain the performance necessary to accomplish this, the tuner performance had to be adjusted. Therefore, the revision rolled from A to B. Phase-coherency can only be obtained with two E2730B or two E2731B tuners in a two RF-channel system (89640A or 89641A).
Both A the B tuners are compatible with all 89605 input modules and E1439 ADC modules.
