How can I determine the Media Access Control (MAC) address of my 16700-series logic analyzer?

Answer

Occasionally, users of LAN-enabled instruments need to know the MAC address of their machines. The MAC address is sometimes also referred to as a "link level address", "Ethernet address", "physical address", "hardware address", or "station address".

You can determine the MAC address of your 16700-series logic analyzer by following any one of the following three procedures:

 

1.. Using lanscan

A. Open an x-term window by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Shift+F8
B. Enter the command lanscan.
C. The MAC address is displayed as a hexadecimal number under Station Address.

 

2. Using landiag

A. Open an x-term window by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Shift+F8
B. Enter the following commands:
landiag
lan
d

C. The MAC address is displayed as a hexadecimal number next to Station Address. The 12-digit address may be displayed with leading zeros eliminated.

 

3. Interrupting the boot process

A. Reboot the machine and be prepared to stop the boot process.
B. As the machine boots, press Esc repeatedly. The machine will stop the boot process and display the "Main Menu" with ites list of available commands.
C. At the Main Menu: Enter Command > prompt, press Enter to display a second prompt (the first prompt will not accept a command).
D. At the second prompt, select INformation by entering the command in. The machine will display the "Information Menu" with its list of available commands.
E. At the Information Menu: Enter Command > prompt, select LanAddress by entering the command LA. The machine will display the MAC Address as follows:
LAN Station Address: xxxxxx-xxxxxx
F. Make note of the address and type reset to start the system.
