Trigger holdoff can be used to prevent the oscilloscope from triggering on a repeating waveform multiple times. This can be useful for troubleshooting problems, such as jitter. For example, if you are troubleshooting a digital circuit and you are seeing jitter on the signal, you can use trigger holdoff to prevent the oscilloscope from triggering on every pulse. This will allow you to see the jitter more clearly.
