Updating Emulation Module Firmware

This page describes the process for updating Agilent Technologies 16610A emulation module firmware. (The emulation module must be installed in an Agilent Technologies 16600A/16700A-series logic analysis system.)

Important Note: When using ftp to "put" the firmware files onto the logic analysis system, you must use "binary" mode.

Copy the needed files into the logic analysis system's /logic/run_cntrl/firmware directory using the following procedure:

  1. Copy the old firmware files that you are going to replace to a safe location.
  2. Delete the old firmware files from the /logic/run_cntrl/firmware directory.
  3. Using ftp you can put the 5 files into the /logic/run_cntrl/firmware directory. Make sure that all filenames contain lower case letters.
       ftp Agilent_logic_analyzer
       login: ftp
       passwd: RETURN
       cd run_cntrl/firmware
       binary
       put file

For example, the 5 files that you need for a Motorola M683xx BDM emulator are:

You can also put the firmware files on a floppy disk and copy from the floppy disk.

  4. Using the emulation module icon in the logic analysis system's Workspace window, select the update firmware command.
