Component Characterization

In addition to existing PNA-X measurements such as S-parameter, gain compression, intermodulation distortion, and noise figure, the PNA family allows nonlinear distortion measurements like EVM, NPR, or ACPR under modulated stimulus conditions. Its new high-performance DDS (direct digital synthesis) sources are capable of generating modulated signals up to 6 GHz bandwidth internally, and thus can further simplify test setups for active device characterization. For passive components, we show a powerful combination of a 2-port and a 4-port USB VNA. These instruments can be used standalone as 2-, 4- or 6-port VNAs, or they can extend the number of test ports up to 12 ports by combining two instruments.
