Keysight’s New Test Solution Optimizes Performance of 5G Devices that Use MIMO Technology to Increase Data Throughput
Combines network and channel emulation solutions with over-the-air chambers and test cases
SANTA ROSA, Calif., July 7, 2020
Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS), a leading technology company that helps enterprises, service providers and governments accelerate innovation to connect and secure the world, has launched a new test solution that optimizes the performance of 5G devices that use MIMO* and massive MIMO technology to increase data throughput and improve network capacity.
Keysight's S8708A Advanced Performance Test Toolset enables an ecosystem consisting of eighty-four 5G device vendors to validate device performance under accurate and real-world conditions using 3D fading and mobility scenarios. Keysight's new toolset includes the company's PROPSIM FS16 or F64 channel emulator, UXM 5G Wireless Test Platform and 3D OTA multiprobe anechoic chambers, and supports test cases specified by 3GPP for MIMO over-the-air (OTA) testing in study item (TR38.827), which included contributions from Keysight.
"Adding advanced performance test capabilities to Keysight's network and channel emulation solutions enables an ecosystem investing in MIMO and massive MIMO technology to accelerate the launch of high performing 4G and 5G devices," said Kailash Narayanan, vice president of Keysight and general manager of Keysight's wireless test group. "Keysight's system solution, which includes 3D multiprobe anechoic chambers, provides for 5G device performance optimization across the full protocol stack in a frequency range 2 (FR2) OTA test environment."
Keysight's Advanced Performance Test Toolset, part of the company's suite of 5G device test solutions:
- uses common logging, analysis and channel modeling tools to speed testing across the workflow in MIMO OTA test environments.
- enables chipset and device makers, as well as test houses and mobile operators, to validate beam management, MIMO antenna performance and maximum data throughput of a 5G device across different massive MIMO configurations and 3D special fading conditions.
- allows users to gain access to geometric channel models with high-capacity fading options as well as test cases specified by 3GPP across FR1 and FR2.
- enables users to verify how a device performs by stressing the design in a 3D OTA test environment that uses multi-beam technology and multiple angles of arrival (AoA) to create accurate and realistic conditions.
*MIMO (multiple input, multiple output) – an antenna technology for wireless communications in which multiple antennas are used at both the source (transmitter) and the destination (receiver).
