SampleConfigServer Read Me

This program is supplied as is from Agilent Technologies which
supplies no warranty or support. It is published to provide
information on how to use the IVI Configuration Server to modify the
IVI Configuration Store. The reader may use the concepts contained in
the program to create programs which meet the needs of the reader.

The subroutine, ModifyConfigurationStore, is the same as the one
described in the paper, IVI Configuration Server, available from the
the Agilent Developers Network. It is not called by any other routine in
the sample.

Running the program displays a simple GUI. The pane on the right
displays the current contents of the master configuration store on the
computer using the Microsoft WebBrowser COM server. It is updated when
the contents are modified by this program.

The controls on the left allow you to add and remove three objects
from the configuration store, HardwareAsset, DriverSession, and
LogicalName. You cannot directly edit any object with this program.

To add a new object, fill in all the controls for that object with
appropriate values. When you click the Create button, the program
attempts to create and add an object. If either fails, a message box
appears with an error message.

To remove an object, fill in the name of the object to remove. All
the other controls are ignored when removing an object. Click the
Remove button to actually remove the object. If the removal fails, a
message box appears with an error message.

After successfully adding or removing an object, the program updates
the displayed configuration store. You can examine its contents to see
the effect of your entries.
