Test 802.11a/b/g transceivers
Signal Studio for 802.11 WLAN provides a powerful signal creation tool for testing 802.11a/b/g transceivers. Easily create WLAN waveform on your PC with the graphical user interface. Quickly download the waveforms to the PSG's baseband generator over LAN or GPIB.

Fully-coded signals enable FER/PER/BER analysis
Thoroughly test your WLAN transceiver's RF and baseband subsections with fully-coded WLAN frames that enable you to perform FER, PER, and BER analysis. The software automatically adds the required encoding, including interleaving and frame check sequence (FCS) bits, for testing baseband decoding algorithms. Demodulator specific tests can be isolated and performed by disabling some, or all, of the encoding levels.

Evaluate the user interface
Download Signal Studio to a PC to review the user interface and investigate the WLAN signal creation capabilities of the software prior to purchase. Each vector signal generator must be licensed separately in order to generate the signals created by the software.

Typical applications
Signal Studio for 802.11a/b/g is recommended for testing WLAN transceivers and their components used in wireless adapters, access points, and routers. Typical applications range from component and amplifier test to ASIC/DSP coding algorithm development/debugging and performing receiver FER/PER/BER analysis. Common measurements include receiver minimum input level sensitivity, adjacent and non-adjacent channel rejection, and maximum input level.

How to upgrade
If you currently own an E8267C PSG, it can be upgraded to include Option 417 by ordering E8267CK-417.

  • Configure 802.11a/b/g frames from the intuitive user interface
  • Choose a payload data type: built-in data patterns or user file
  • Frames includes a fully coded preamble and header
  • Create multiple frames with an incrementing sequence control field
  • Add a user defined file of FIR coefficients as your baseband filter
  • Simulate channel impairments by adding multipoint reflections to the waveform
  • Fade the signal using N5115A Baseband Studio for fading.
  • Output the test signal as RF, analog I/Q, digital IQ or IF; requires N5102A Baseband Studio digital signal interface module for digital inputs and outputs.
