Test W-CDMA Receivers with HSDPA Channels

Option 418 is a powerful development and manufacturing signal creation tool for evolving 3G mobile radios and base stations. Generate uplink and downlink HSDPA channels along with the necessary W-CDMA control channels to establish a radio link between the ESG and the base station or mobile radio under test. Configure standards-based and custom signals using the simple graphical user interface or programmatically using SCPI over the LAN or GPIB.

Transport Layer Coded Signals for BLER Analysis

Thoroughly test your receiver's RF and baseband subsections with flexible transport layer coded 3GPP W-CDMA HSDPA channels. The transport layer automatically adds CRC bits, code block segmentation, turbo encoding, rate matching, interleaving, and constellation rearrangement required to test demodulation and decoding algorithms. The CRC bits are encoded in real-time for each packet enabling BLER testing to be performed. To simplify analysis when performing demodulation specific tests, transport layer coding can be bypassed by injecting data directly into the physical layer before spreading and scrambling.

Advanced Features Enable Functional Tests

The adaptive modulation coding (AMC) and hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) features associated with HSDPA technology are easily tested with Signal Studio software. Encode each downlink packet transmission with different coding parameters or a different modulation type (16-QAM or QPSK) according to a user definable AMC or HARQ response from the mobile. Additionally, base station functionality is easily tested using different ACK/NACK and CQI data transmissions on the uplink HS-DPCCH.

Typical Applications

Signal Studio for HSDPA over W-CDMA is recommended for testing HSDPA base station and mobile radio handsets. Typical applications range from ASIC/DSP coding algorithm development and debugging to performing receiver BLER analysis with the transport layer coded HSDPA channels. Common measurements include receiver sensitivity, selectivity, maximum input level and demodulation performance in the presence of interference.
