Test 1xEV-DV and Cdma2000 Receivers at RF and Baseband

Signal Studio for 1xEV-DV (1x Evolution Data and Voice) and cdma2000 is the first physical layer test solution to enable creation of 1xEV-DV forward link test signals in addition to cdma2000 forward and reverse link signals. With one simple PC graphical user interface, you can configure standards-based or custom test signals for use with the ESG in order to evaluate receivers and baseband subsystems. The entire signal configuration and ESG control can also be automated with SCPI commands in your own test executive.

Fully Coded Signals for Receiver PER/BER Analysis

The deep level of channel coding enables verification of the packet, bit or frame error rate (PER/BER/FER) of receivers and baseband ASICs and DSPs. Both forward and reverse link channels are fully coded with long and short codes, cyclic redundancy checks or DV frame quality indicator and tail bits, convolutional or turbo encoding, interleaving, power control, and complex scrambling. Modify signal coding parameters, power level and data rate in real-time to efficiently test demodulation and decoding algorithms, without waiting for long arbitrary waveform rebuild and download delays. For receiver tests in the presence of AWGN, the optional calibrated noise personality enables setting C/N with digital accuracy and monitoring Eb/No in the reverse link.

Evaluate the User Interface

Download Signal Studio to a PC to review the user interface and investigate signal creation capabilities prior to purchase. Each E4438C ESG vector signal generator must be licensed separately in order to generate the signals created by the software.

Typical Applications

Test 1xEV-DV mobile station receivers with fully coded forward link signals that enable PER and BER analysis. Test cdma2000 base station and mobile receivers for BER and FER with fully-coded forward and reverse link cdma2000 signals. Other common receiver measurements include receiver sensitivity, maximum input level, and demodulation performance in the presence of interference. Also access the baseband signal as digital (requires N5102A) or analog differential or single-ended output to test the baseband processing. Use Signal Studio for 1xEV-DV and cdma2000 to exercise and validate prototype implementations, turbo decoders, de-interleavers, CRC generators, subpacket handling, packet assembly and aggregation, and synchronization.
