File Converter for Agilent 4155/4156 Setup File

Introduction

============

4155/4156 Setup File Converter provides both Graphical User Interface

(GUI) and Command Line Interface (CLI) to convert the Agilent 4155/4156

setup file (.MES or .DAT file) to the Agilent B1500A/EasyEXPERT setup

file (.XTS file).





Execution Environment

=====================

Microsoft Windows Vista Home, Vista Business, Windows XP Home, XP

Professional, or Windows 2000 Professional



 Note: For Windows XP and Windows 2000, .NET Framework 2.0 SP1 is

       required. For Windows Vista, SP1 is required.





Installation Instructions

=========================

To install Setup File Converter onto your computer, follow the

procedure below:



1. Insert the Desktop EasyEXPERT software CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.

2. If needed, double click the index.html file in the CD-ROM.

3. Click "Install Setup File Converter" icon and follow the

   instructions of the setup wizard.

4. Wait for installation to complete, and remove the CD-ROM from the

   CD-ROM drive.





Graphical User Interface

========================

Graphical User Interface for the file converter is available from the

Windows "Start" menu as:



 Start -> All Programs --> Agilent B1500A EasyEXPERT

                             --> 4155C/4156C Setup File Converter



Refer to the EasyEXPERT User's Guide to learn how to use the file

converter GUI.





Command Line Interface

======================

You can use the execution file as shown below. The .XTS file will be

created in the current folder.  If you do not specify the file

parameter, this program displays the help messages.



 Syntax

 ------

 SetupFileConverter.exe [/4155 | /4156] [/HP] [/S] file





 Parameter

 ---------

(no option)   Performs normal operation.



 /4155   Creates the XTS file for the 4155B/C, not for the B1500A.



 /4156   Creates the XTS file for the 4156B/C, not for the B1500A.



 /HP   Converts HPSMU in the MES/DAT file to SMU5: HP.

         For creating the XTS file for the 4155/4156.



 /S      Leaves Command Prompt open after execution. The Command Prompt

         window displays the status message. The window is closed by pressing the 

         Enter key.



 file:   4155/4156 setup file (.MES or .DAT file) name

         You can specify multiple files by using a space as the

         separator. If you want to specify all files in the current

         folder, use * (asterisk).

About Execution Results

=======================

The setup file conversion is not complete because of the different

measurement resources, modules and functions of the Agilent 4155/4156 and

Agilent B1500A/EasyEXPERT. Hence, you will see differences in the operation,

performance, measurement result data, and so on. The following are the

expected differences.



- Channel number may be changed. For example, the HPSMU channel number is 5

  for the 4155/4156 but 1 for the B1500A/EasyEXPERT.

- Voltage Source Unit (VSU) and Voltage Monitor Unit (VMU) will be replaced

  with four modules of MPSMU, unless /4155 or /4156 option is specified.

- Pulse Generator Unit (PGU) setup will be deleted.

- Unused module information will be deleted.

- Functions only for the 4155/4156 will be deleted.

- Setup value will be changed to the value available for the

  B1500A/EasyEXPERT.



If an unconvertible setup parameter is found during the setup file

conversion, a message will be displayed. If an unconvertible setup file is

specified, the file conversion is not performed for the file and a message

will be displayed.

There are no known defects in this program.
