Keysight's product portfolio enhanced by Scienlab test solutions for EV and HEV

With the acquisition of Scienlab electronic systems – a highly specialized technology company providing test solutions for electronic components in the automotive and industrial sectors – Keysight took a further step towards addressing e-mobility market dynamics.

The combination of the know-how and experience of both companies results in optimized customer-specific test solutions for the development and production of charging technology and infrastructure, energy storages, battery management systems, inverters, and DC / DC converters.

Automotive original equipment manufacturers, Tier 1 suppliers and research institutions profit from innovative and high-quality products which allow reducing time-to-market and costs when developing components for (hybrid) electric vehicles.

Test solutions for charging technology and infrastructure
Scienlab's test solution allows testing the components involved in the charging process – from pure analysis of communication through testing the charging current in different power classes to independent testing of individual components of the electric vehicle during development. As a result the customer is able to realize secured components, norm-compliant procedures and compatible technologies which enable a successful charging process between charging infrastructure (EVSE, e.g. charging stations, wallboxes) and vehicle (EV).

Test solutions for energy storages
Scienlab accompanies the entire development and production process of an energy storage device providing innovative test systems and the first-class ESD PC software: from cell chemistry research and development through formation of the cell to validation of battery cells, modules and packs including battery management system.
Scienlab offers customer-specific stand-alone solutions, integrated test systems up to ready-for-use test laboratories with thousands of test channels if required.

Test solutions for battery management systems
For the purpose of reproducible and secure testing and BMS optimization, Scienlab supplies a hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) test environment: instead of the cells, Scienlab Cell Emulators are connected to emulate various cell types of a range of cell models. The test environment also provides emulation of cell temperature, battery current sensors, insulation resistances and individually defined errors such as insulation faults at the battery voltage, line breaks or short-circuits.

Test solutions for inverters
With the Scienlab test solution comprising a Power-HiL system, a Machine Emulator and a Dynamic DC Emulator, inverters can be tested individually and independently of other components. It enables precise emulation of all signals and variables under real conditions and thus dynamic tests in complex test scenarios with modifiable variables and parameters.
