On the ENA / ENA-L, when recalling a state, the free running trigger condition is not being preserved. Why?

(SUPPORTED MODELS IN BOLD: E5071C E5070B/71B E5070A/71A E5061A/62A E5061B E5072A)

The ENA / ENA-L support four discrete file saves (as accessed via the Save/Recall - Save Type key selections). The Save Type(s) include:

  1. State Only
  2. State & Cal (default selection)
  3. State & Trace
  4. All

If the user selects either Save Type "State & Trace" or Save Type "All" then trace data is included as part of the state save. For these two conditions the Trigger Source is set to Manual when the state file is recalled, thus the trigger is in a hold condition. To set the trigger back to a free running condition, select the Trigger (hard key) followed by the Trigger Source – Internal (soft key). There is no method to override the Trigger Source - Manual mode when the state save is defined as either State & Trace or All.

Additionally note that after recalling the state type of either State & Trace or All and then setting the Trigger Source = Internal the static trace (which was initially recalled) will be erased. If it desired that the static trace be preserved (not lost on setting the Trigger Source to Internal) then ensure that the static trace is written to memory (prior to setting the Trigger Source = Internal). The process for writing the static trace to memory is outlined below:

  • First recall the state (of type State & Trace or All).
  • After recall select:
    a. Display
    b. Data -> Mem
    c. Display
    d. Data & Mem
