The following documents are useful reference guides when operating or when working on test equipment.

When making connections to the Spectrum/Signal Analyzer, insure the power level of the signal being applied is less than the stated damage level for each of the ports. For RF Ports, this information is typically displayed by the port and in the specifications section of the products manuals. The analyzer's circuitry can be damaged when excessive RF Power is applied and/or the DC limit is exceeded. To prevent damage in most situations external high power attenuators can be used. Consult the Spectrum/Signal Analyzer's User Guides to find product specific information on preventing overpower conditions and internal damage.

Detailed safety information for the Analyzers can be found in the Safety Information section of the products users manuals. Consult the specific products users manuals for detailed information.

Preventative Maintenance Information

This page contains links to information for performing preventative maintenance on the Keysight's family of Spectrum Analyzers and Signal Analyzers. The information found on this page should help you to keep your Test Set in top condition so it is available when needed. This is the best way to prevent unplanned downtime and extend the instruments life.

Regularly scheduled preventative maintenance that includes cleaning, adjusting, and verification will help you to:

  • Assure that your instrument is available when you need it
  • Maintain optimum instrument performance
  • Insure that your instrument has the latest functionality updates and enhancements
  • Avoid expensive unplanned downtime and repairs
  • Extend the useful life of your instrument

Here you will find General Preventative Maintenance Information when it applies to all Spectrum Analyzers, and Instrument Specific Preventative Maintenance Information when applicable.

Product Operation/Verification

Functional Tests

Product Operation/'Verification consists of functional tests of various instrument parameters that give a high degree of confidence that the analyzer is operating correctly. They are recommended as a check of analyzer operation for incoming inspection or after a repair. Measurement uncertainty analysis is not available for functional tests, and the analyzer is checked against limits that are wider than the published specifications. The functional tests are designed to test an analyzer operating within the temperature range defined by the analyzer specifications using a minimum set of test equipment. If a test does not pass, performance tests must be run to confirm a problem exits.
