What does the scope decimate large amount of acquisition data to fit into the display?

The 6000 Series oscilloscopes do not decimate the acquired waveform for display. For example, if the acquisition recorder were 8M points, then all 8M points will be shown for display. The first 8000 points will go in the first pixel column on the display; then next 8000 points will be drawn into the 2nd pixel column, and so on for all 1000 columns.
