How do I fix the "Can't Connect to USB Device" problem when connecting to a DSO3000 series oscilloscope?

If you cannot establish a USB connection to the 3000 scope try the following:

  1. Connect the oscilloscope via the USB port; make sure the oscilloscope is powered on.
  2. Look at the unplug/eject hardware icon on the PC.
  3. If the 3000 Series oscilloscope is registered, go to the PC’s Device Manager (right-click on My Computer and choose Manage from the popup menu).
  4. In Device Manager:
    a. Uninstall the Keysight Technologies->Keysight DSO3000 Oscilloscope Series driver.
    b. Cycle power on the 3000 Series oscilloscope. The PC should reinstall the USB driver.
    c. Try the N2680A software again.
  5. If the 3000 Series oscilloscope is not registered, you most likely have a bad USB connection or have not installed the 3000 Series oscilloscope driver.
