When I put a N6700 family DC Power Supply module into my mainframe, I get error 207 listed on the front panel when I turn the unit on. What does th...

Error 207 means “calibration file version error”. This means that the module was calibrated in a N6700B mainframe with a version of firmware that is newer than the version of firmware in the mainframe where it is generating the error. There are minor differences in the firmware’s calibration procedure between firmware releases that cause this error to appear.

For example: Your mainframe contains firmware version B.00.34 (an older version). The module was calibrated in another mainframe with firmware version C.00.02 (a newer version). If you plug that module into your mainframe (with firmware version B.00.34) your mainframe will generate error 207. This module should not be used when this error is displayed because there is a chance that it is not in calibration.

The solution is to upgrade your mainframe to the newest firmware version that is available. The newest firmware and instructions on upgrading firmware are located at https://www.keysight.com/find/N6700firmware

If the error persists after the firmware is upgraded, then the module should be sent to Keysight for calibration or repair.

The reverse case is not an issue because the firmware is backward compatible. For example: Your mainframe contains firmware version C.00.02 (a newer version). The module was calibrated in a mainframe with firmware version B.00.34 (an older version). If you plug that module into your mainframe (with firmware version C.00.02), your mainframe will not generate any error and everything will function normally.
