My 16700-series logic analyzer is not booting properly and needs to be reignited. Is there a way to first store my configuration and license files...

Reigniting your logic analyzer will wipe out all data on your hard drive and restore the factory default disk image. You may be able to salvage some config files, license files, and other data before performing the reignite, even though your 16700 system won’t boot to the Graphical User Interface (GUI).

Any files recovered need to be small enough to fit onto a floppy disk for the following procedure to work. Keysight recommends that you use this procedure only as a last resort for recovering your data when your analyzer will not boot properly. We are providing this procedure as-is, as a courtesy to our customers. We do not officially support use of the 16700 analyzers outside of the 16700 GUI.

  1. Turn on the 16700’s power and interrupt the boot process by hitting the Esc key repeatedly.
  2. When you see the Main Menu: Enter command > prompt, press Enter and then enter the command bo pri isl.
  3. At the Interact with IPL? prompt, enter Y.
  4. At the ISL> prompt, enter the command hpux –is.
  5. At the unknown:/> prompt, enter the command mount –a.
  6. Insert a blank floppy disk into the floppy drive.
  7. Assuming you have a file named config.___ in the /logic/configs directory, enter the command doscp /logic/configs/config.___ /dev/floppy/c0t1d0:/config.___
  8. To back up your 16700’s license file so that you won’t need to find and enter license keys after the reignite procedure, enter the command doscp /logic/licensing/license.dat /dev/floppy/c0t1d0:/license.dat. You will need to copy license.dat back to the /logic/licensing directory after the reignite procedure.
  9. The config.___ and license.dat files should now reside on the floppy disk. Confirm this by entering the list command dosls /dev/floppy/c0t1d0:
  10. Turn off the 16700’s power or enter the command reboot to begin the reignite procedure.
