How do I create an amplitude correction file in Excel and load it into my X-Series Analyzer?

  1. Save the uncrrected trace data as a .csv file.

    a. [Save] > Measurement Data > Data Type: Trace > Save As... > "filename".csv

   2.  Save a blank amplitude correction file, which will be used as a template for the actual correction file.

       a.  [Save] > Correction > Save As... > "filename".csv

   3.  Transfer these two .csv files to a USB storage device and load them onto a computer that has Microsoft Excel.

   4.  Open both .csv files in separate windows of Microsoft Excel.

   5.  Load the frequency points into the blank correction file, which at this point is a blank template, in units of MHz.

       a.  In the trace file, which contains the uncorrected data, copy all of the frequencies listed under the block "DATA".

       b.  Paste them into an open column in the same file.

     c.  Amplitude correction files require frequency entries in units of MHz, so divide this column by 106 using Excel math functions.

     d.  Copy this new column, which represents the frequency points from the uncorrected trace in units of MHz, and paste it in the blank correction file under the "DATA" header.

Note: When you paste the data it may paste "#REF!" in each entry (see below).  If this occurs change the paste settings to "Value".

   6.  Add the corrected amplitude values next to each corresponding frequency point.

       a.  In the uncorrected trace data file, copy the amplitude column into a blank column.

     b.  Perform Excel math on this column such that it corrects the amplitude values to the target value.

     c.  Copy this correction column, which contains the correction value for each frequency point in the trace file and paste it into the correction file such that each correction values lines up with its corresponding frequency pint.  Remember to past as a "Value".

   7.  Now that the amplitude correction file has been created, save this then load it back onto the USB storage device.  Insert the USB storage device into one of the X-Series Analyzer front panel USB ports.

   8.  On the X-Series analyzer recall the correction file.

       a.  [Recall] > Correction > Recall From > select the .csv file from the USB storage device.
