Which Keysight oscilloscopes have a 10 MHz reference input/output?

A 10 MHz reference input/output can be used for one of three reasons:

  1. To supply a more accurate sample clock signal to the oscilloscope
  2. To synchronize the time base of two or more instruments
  3. For calibration on the higher end scopes

When you plug in a 10 MHz reference signal the hardware frequency counter of your oscilloscope is automatically changed from a 5-digit counter to an 8-digit counter. This allows your oscilloscopes frequency counter to be as accurate as your external clock.

Below is a list of Keysight oscilloscopes that include or can include a 10 MHz reference input/output:

  • 6000 Series
  • 6000L Series
  • 7000A Series
  • 7000B Series
  • 9000 Series
  • 54850 Series (Output only)
  • 80000A Series
  • 80000B Series
  • 90000A Series
