Question

How Should I Set Measurement Points in BIN Sorting of E4982A?

Answer

Setting of measurement points in BIN sorting of E4982A is independent of the selection of measurement points in the measurement display (single point measurement or list measurement). Therefore, in order to use BIN sorting appropriately, the measurement points in BIN sorting need to be set up as follows.
  1. When two or more measurement points are set in BIN sorting, you must choose the list measurement display.
  2. When the list measurement display is chosen, you must select measurement points of BIN sorting from the measurement points in the list measurement display.
  3. When you choose the single measurement display, the measurement point of BIN sorting must be the same as that in the single measurement display. Especially, when the list measurement display is changed to the single measurement display, it is necessary to confirm that the measurement point of BIN sorting is the same as that in the single measurement display.
When a setup of the measurement points of BIN sorting differs from the above, the BIN sorting does not function appropriately. Typical example in which BIN sorting does not function appropriately is as follows:
Measurement points in measurement point setup display : 100 MHz & 200 MHz
Measurement display : Single point measurement at 100 MHz
Measurement points in BIN sorting : 100 MHz, 200 MHz, or 100 MHz & 200 MHz

In this case, if 200 MHz or 100 MHz & 200 MHz is chosen as the measurement point in BIN sorting, the BIN sorting will not function appropriately.

Since the measurement point in the single point measurement is 100 MHz, measurements are done at 100 MHz but not at 200 MHz.

In order to perform BIN sorting using two measurement points, 100 MHz & 200 MHz, the list measurement display needs to be chosen. When choosing the single measurement display, the measurement point in BIN sorting must be set to 100 MHz.
