How can I know the stray capacitance and residual inductance values from OPEN A/B and SHORT A/B measurement data displayed on the E4980A LCD?

The E4980A displays the open admittance and the short impedance obtained for Open/Short compensation as OPEN A, OPEN B, SHORT A and SHORT B values on the CORRECTION Setup page. The open admittance and short impedance values can be translated into the stray capacitance, the stray conductance, the residual inductance and the residual resistance values by using the equations shown in the table below.

Display Meaning of displayed value Parameter Parameter conversion equation
OPEN A Real part of open admittance Stray conductance (Gp) Rp = 1/Gp
OPEN B Imaginary part of open admittance Stray susceptance (Bp) Cp = Bp/ω = Bp/(2 π f)
SHORT A Real part of short impedance Residual resistance (Rs) Not required
SHORT B Imaginary part of short impedance Residual reactance (Xs) Ls = Xs/ω = Xs/(2 π f)
