How to Connect Keysight 849xG/H OPT 016 Step Attenuators to Y1153A

With option 016, 849xG/H has a 10pin (male) connector on right side, and it will come with a 10-pin-to-14-pin ribbon cable (16 inches long). The picture below shows the drive connector, which mates with the 10-pin header on the supplied ribbon cable. The ribbon cable can be separated from the 10-pin connector on the body of the attenuator. Below is the pin mapping and diagram for the 14-pin header at the end of ribbon cable provided with OPT 016 – see bottom row of table. Viking connectors do not apply to OPT 016.

The picture below looks into the OPT 016 drive connector on the attenuator’s housing. The table below the picture shows the pin map for this device. Note that the pin numbering looking into the attenuator’s drive connector is different than the pin numbering shown on the 14-pin header provided with one end of the ribbon cable. Use this table if making a custom ribbon cable that has a 10-pin header and will be used to bypass the provided 10-pin-to-14-pin ribbon cable. This setup is recommended for connecting 849xG/H to Y1153A, as shown in Figure 4 on next page.
