Description

VDI was founded in 1996 as a spin-off from the Terahertz research program at the University of Virginia. Its mission is to make the terahertz frequency band as useful for scientific, defense and commercial applications as the microwave and infrared bands are today.

VDI’s primary products use diode technology to generate power and signals in the terahertz frequency band (100GHz - ~3THz) and down-convert terahertz signals to the microwave band , Modifiedon=NOW() , ModifiedBy=10436 WHERE they are readily amplified and analyzed.

Specific examples include frequency extenders for Keysight’s signal generators, spectrum analyzers and vector network analyzers. As an example, VDI offers a VNA frequency extender for the WR1.5 waveguide band (500-750GHz) that achieves 100dB dynamic range (@ 10Hz BW).

VDI’s products are sold annually to some 200 hundred customers in over two dozen countries, including most of the premiere research and development laboratories in the US, Europe and Asia.
