What is the raw jitter tolerance for the N4960A/N4952A?
There is no CDR in the N4960A, so by itself, the JTOL plot will be a flat line somewhere below 1 UI. An external CDR can be used. Click on the question for additional information.

FAQ 2017-06-28

If we use external clocks for both the Pattern Generator and Error Detector parts, can we run them at different data rates?
It would be more straight-forward to provide the PG (TX) with a 10 GHz clock (for 10 Gb/s data) and then use the 1:4 demux and provide the ED (RX) with a 2.5 GHz clock (measuring 2.5 Gb/s data). Click on the question for additional information.

FAQ 2017-06-28

Where can I find manuals for discontinued and obsolete Hewlett-Packard, Agilent and Keysight test equipment?
Most Keysight products have PDF manuals that can be found on product pages. Other vendors also supply old manuals.

FAQ 2014-08-01

Why is the segmented memory acquisition mode useful and which Infiniium oscilloscopes support it?
Segmented memory mode offers more efficient acquisition memory usage for storing waveforms with events of interest that are separated by long periods of time. All currently shipping Infiniiums and many older units support segmented memory.

What is the typical power consumption of the 86100C and 86100D Digital Communications Analyzer?
Typical measurements of 86100C and 86100D power consumption

FAQ 2012-09-25

How do I establish a peer-to-peer connection between my PC and an InfiniiVision 5000/6000/7000 Series oscilloscope?
There are two methods ...

FAQ 2012-03-27

How much the default RF port power of N4375B? And can I change it?
It is 0 dBm, and you can change it.

FAQ 2012-03-01

How can I perform TDR measurements using the 86100D mainframe with the standard trigger option, 86100D-STR?
If you want to use two TDR modules in an 86100D with option STR then you either have to move the cable to the module that sends out the TDR pulses, or you have to use two cables (such as Keysight P/N 5062-6687) and a power divider (such as Keysight’s P/N 11636B) or power splitter (such as Keysight P/N 11667B). The common port should go into the trigger input.

FAQ 2011-04-25

For the InfiniiMax probes, what effect does the "Signal being probed" setting have? Why do I have to specify single-ended or differential?
Infiniium scopes and InfiniiMax differential probe amplifiers have a unique method of applying DC offset which considers whether the signal being probed is single-ended or differential...

FAQ 2010-10-06

When sending a "*IDN?" query to the 8156A optical attenuator over GP-IB why does the instrument return the string "8157A..."?
The 8156A has two command sets for programming over GP-IB. The first is the 8156A command set and the second simulates the command set of a previous optical attenuator, the 8157A.

FAQ 2010-05-14

Can I program a waveform captured by my oscilloscope into a Keysight arbitrary waveform generator?
Yes. The free IntuiLink Waveform Editor software will download waveform data from Keysight Infiniium, 6000 series, and 54600 series oscilloscopes and send the data to the a Keysight 33120A, 33210A, 33220A, or 33250A generator.

FAQ 2010-04-12

How do I get the maximum available memory depth from my Infiniium oscilloscope?
The various Infiniium models offer between 32K and 128M points of memory per channel. The following guide shows you how to get the maximum available memory from your particular scope.

FAQ 2009-11-19

How do I put an Infiniium oscilloscope into XY mode?
All Infiniium models have a math function called "versus", which plots one channel or function versus another channel or function.

FAQ 2009-02-17

What does the "LASER PROTECTION" message for the 8167 series and 8168 series tunable laser source (8167A/B, 8168A/B/C/D/E/F) indicate?
The "LASER PROTECTION" message indicates that the laser has been switched off to prevent damage to the laser diode.

FAQ 2007-01-10

What is the amplitude accuracy of my oscilloscope?
When oscilloscope manufacturers specify vertical accuracy, they typically only mention bandwidth and DC accuracy. The bandwidth specification addresses the AC accuracy. Tighter AC accuracy specifications are very uncommon.
