Innovations in EDA: Accelerating Radar/EW System Design using Wideband Virtual Scenarios Webcast

1   Hour | Webcast - recorded | Where & When

Technology in modern Radar and Electronic Warfare systems is accelerating rapidly in terms of bandwidth, complexity, and the cost of design & verification. However, while the commercial wireless space has had important advances in ESL design & hardware verification methodologies, Radar and EW systems often still rely on inflexible hardware simulators, expensive outdoor range/flight testing, and self-supported toolsets that add to project costs. This webcast will explore newer system-level modeling & verification approaches that offer lower cost, adaptable R&D testbeds using commercial off the shelf (COTS) components. These system-level approaches virtualize missing Baseband algorithms, RF components, and external environments to enable earlier system integration and more aggressive use of RF & DSP design margins. This approach also allows faster deployment and more effective use of test assets.

This webcast will explore design approaches in several application areas, including MIMO and active electronic scanned array (AESA) radars; emerging RF and baseband architectures; use of simulation-based virtual scenarios; and links to advanced measurement instrumentation, such as M8190A AWG, M9381A VSG and M9703 multi-channel signal analyzer.

By attending this free webcast, Radar and EW System Architects, RF component designers, and System Verifiers in Wireless and Defense R&D will gain new insights into cost effective methods of design & verification for next generation systems at the physical layer.

David Leiss, Senior Application Engineer, Agilent EEsof EDA

David has more than 30 years’ experience in computer-aided design of RF and microwave circuits and systems. His experience includes 26 years with EEsof/Hewlett Packard/Keysight, and has also worked for or with Sonnet Software, Besser Associates and Compact Software. Before that, he worked at Frequency Sources in Massachusetts doing high-speed and low-noise VCO designs and developing computer controlled test systems for measuring VCO settling time and phase noise. His primary job is to develop and deliver training classes on the use of Keysight's ADS and SystemVue simulation software. He has taught well over 2500 engineers in the use of Microwave/RF design software. He has presented numerous seminars and papers and published several magazine articles on the simulation and modeling of radar and communications systems using Agilent ADS and SystemVue.

Dingqing Lu, Senior Application Engineer, Agilent EEsof EDA

Dingqing has been with Agilent Technologies/Hewlett Packard Company since 1989 and is a scientist with Agilent EEsof EDA, working on modeling, simulation, testing and implementation of systems including wireless, Military and Satellite Communications and Radar EW. From 1981 to 1986 He was with University of Sichuan as a Lecturer and Assistant Professor. He was a Research Associate in the Department of Electrical Engineering at University of California (UCLA) from 1986 to 1989. He is a IEEE senior member and has published 20 papers on IEEE Transactions, Journals and Conference Proceedings. He also holds a US patent on fast DSP search algorithm. His research interests include system modeling, simulation, signal processing and measurement techniques.
