Addressing Challenging New Test Requirements for DOCSIS 3.1 Upstream Signals Webcast
1 Hour | Webcast - recorded | Where & When
WHAT IS THE WEBCAST ABOUT
RF test procedures for next-generation cable modems require measurements ranging from those that are very familiar (transmit power, modulation quality, noise and spurious, etc.) to those that are totally new and unique to DOCSIS 3.1 OFDMA signals. This 1 hour webcast will describe new measurement challenges such as synchronized ACP, partially-equalized MER, relative symbol clock error and inter-burst noise and will present innovative new techniques for measuring them with accuracy and repeatability. Additional topics will include complex triggering techniques, as needed for upstream MER testing and out-of-band spurious analysis.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
• R&D engineers involved with designing DOCSIS 3.1-based transmitters, receivers and components
• Signal integrity engineers
• DOCSIS 3.1 system integrators
• Cable network operators
PRESENTER
Ken Voelker, DOCSIS Specialist
Ken’s involvement with RF comms began during high school, as he designed and built equipment for his ham radio station. Following college, he worked 4 years developing production ATE systems for TRW Inc., buying so much HP RF test equipment that the company eventually hired him as a factory applications engineer. The 33 year career that followed focused on helping customers apply modern signal analysis tools to the emerging test problems of digital RF comms, through training seminars, applications development, hands-on assistance and product enhancements. He helped launch the industry’s first Vector Signal Analyzer in 1992, and served as lead planner for the follow-on 89600 VSA for the first 15 years of its remarkable lifetime.
Following retirement in 2013, Ken has now returned to Keysight as DOCSIS specialist, and serves as their representative on the DOCSIS 3.1 Working Group for PHY Layer Acceptance Test.
