Understanding Phase Noise and Why it Matters Webcast

Engineers developing cutting edge radar and communications systems know that phase noise is a characteristic that can limit system performance. In radar systems, phase noise degrades the ability to process Doppler information. In digitally modulated communication systems, phase noise degrades error vector magnitude.

This webcast explains fundamental phase noise characteristics and tradeoffs including cost, switching speed and optimization of wide vs. narrow offsets in order to optimize performance. It also discusses related signal-generation technologies such as frequency references, frequency converters (i.e., frequency dividers and mixers), and frequency synthesis and their respective roles in transmitter and receiver test.

Riadh Said is a Platform Planning Engineer at Keysight Technologies. He has been with Agilent/Keysight Technologies for over 15 years. He has a broad range of RF and microwave experience working with engineers who develop and manufacture components or systems for mobile communications, RADAR, Satellite and Electronic Warfare. This included rolls in applications planning, platform management, sales development, and technical support.

Riadh graduated with a B.S. in Mechatronic Engineering from Chico State University.
