WHAT IS THE WEBCAST ABOUT

Power in an integrated circuit design is a tightly controlled commodity. In the last several years, there have been increasing demands on power distribution networks, resulting in lower supply voltages. Lowering the supply voltages helps to reduce power consumption. Many designs today have 3.3 V, 1.8 V and even a 1.1 V supply, and as those supplies have become smaller, so have the tolerances on those supplies.

This webcast will review the challenge of measuring ripple and noise on a DC power rail and introduce tools and techniques for making power integrity measurements.

Included will be a discussion of the effects of oscilloscope noise, probe noise, probe attenuation ratio, offset range, input range, connection technique and measuring supply/signal crosstalk. There will be an interactive Q&A session with the presenter for a large portion of the call.

PRESENTER

Kenny Johnson, R&D Technical Lead, Keysight Technologies

Kenny Johnson is an R&D technical lead responsible for project definition, market investigation and product development of Agilent’s oscilloscope probes and accessories. He has also designed logic analyzer probes, managed hardware, ASIC, and software development and spent time as a marketing product line manager.

Kenny has been an HP/Agilent employee for 27 years and earned a BSME from Kansas State University. Kenny enjoys canyoneering, running, biking, and skiing.
