Why does my E6640A EXM not have a calibration certificate?

The E6640A does not have a calibration certificate because of its flexibility in configuration.  Only the modules installed inside the M9018A chassis have calibration certificates.

The E6640A is a standard PXIe based solution which consists of a controller, a chassis (M9018A), a reference (M9300A), and one to four TRX modules (M9432A or M9433A).

Figure 1:  EXM Platform (4-TRX configuration example)

E6640A (EXM) as the platform has a serial number associated with it, which can be seen on the back of the instrument.

Example of the E6640A platform serial number: E6640A, MY12345678

Each M9432A or M9433A TRX module can have different Frequency and Bandwidth options installed as illustrated in the table below.

TRX Configurations
Model/Option Frequency Range
E6640A-504 380 MHz to 3.8 GHz
E6640A-5WC 1.1 GHz to 1.7 GHz, 2.4 GHz to 2.5 GHz, and 4.8 GHz to 6 GHz (WiCon)
E6640A-506 380 MHz to 6 GHz (Multi-format)
  Analysis Bandwidth
E6640A-B40 40 MHz (Standard)
E6640A-B85 80 MHz
E6640A-B1X 160 MHz

Additional TRX modules can be added to an E6640A chassis after the initial instrument purchase. These would have different calibration due dates and different warranty end dates from the modules that were original purchased with the E6640A platform instrument.

Calibration due dates are displayed by the system. In the EXM application go to the System, Show, Hardware screen to view the E6640A system details.

TRX Calibration Date:

Each installed TRX module will have a different Calibration due date which matches the factory calibration certificate. When the instrument if shipped from the factory these TRX module calibration due date will be within 60 days of each other.
