Can I find out more details regarding the 8590 Series firmware history? What firmware upgrade kit is my analyzer is compatible with?

There are only (2) possible firmware upgrade kits for the 8590 series:
- 08590-60372 (Serial prefix ≤3246A)
- 08590-60422 (Serial numbers ≥3340A)
Note: If the Serial prefix of the instrument is 3322A, the actual firmware ROMS need to be exposed to see which version of firmware can be used. See details below.
Press [Config], {More}, {Show Options} on the analyzer. This will bring up an analyzer display that lists the options, model number, serial number suffix, and the firmware revision.
- If the revision date is 20.03.90, 01.06.92, 01.07.92, or 27.10.92 you MUST order the 08590-60372 Firmware Kit dated 94.08.22, which is Revision H.
- If the revision date is 93.05.06 you MUST expose the A16 CPU board and see how many ROMS are plugged into the CPU assembly at A16U7, U6, U23, and U24. Refer to the A16 component level information to see where these (4) firmware ROMS are located.
- If there are (4) ROMS order 08590-60372 Firmware Kit dated 94.08.22 Revision H. If there are (2) ROMS order 08590-60422 Firmware Kit dated 98.06.15 Revision M.
- If the revision date is 93.09.23 and later, you can order the 08590-60422 Firmware Kit dated 991130.
- If the customer has an older vintage of the 8590 series and wants today's shipping firmware, they MUST order the CPU board kit part number 08590-60361. This CPU board is still the single I/O, but will have the latest firmware revision loaded, but will NOT provide dual I/O capability nor will it have expanded DLP memory for larger down loadable programs. Contact your local service center if you want to upgrade your 8590 series with expanded memory and dual I/O capability.
