How do I downgrade my Infiniium oscilloscope from Windows 10 to Windows 7?

You will need to purchase a Windows 7 hard disk drive if you did not already purchase one with your oscilloscope order:

Oscilloscope Family Windows 7 Replacement Solid State Drive
S-Series N2746S
V-Series N2110A-01T or N2110A-500
Z-Series N2110A-01T or N2110A-500
9000 Series (DSO/MSO9xxxA) N2746A

Then follow these steps:

  1.  Save data from your Windows 10 drive before removing it from the oscilloscope:

a. Launch the Keysight License Manager (Utilities > Launch License Manager…) and capture a screen shot of the page. It lists the transportable and fixed perpetual licenses that Keysight will need to re-issue.

b. Copy the calibration folder (C:\ProgramData\Infiniium\cal) to an external device, such as a flash drive. Be sure to copy the entire folder because it might contain calibration data for probes.

c. Copy the license file (C:\ProgramData\Infiniium\license.dat), which contains legacy licenses, to an external device.

Note that to view all files, you might need to select the Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > File Explorer Options (View tab) > Show hidden files, folders, and drives option.

   2.  Remove and replace the existing drive:

a. Power down the Infiniium oscilloscope.

b. Loosen the two screws on the back of the hard disk drive.

c. Pull the Windows 10 drive out and replace it with the Windows 7 drive.

d. Push the new drive in and tighten the two screws.

   3.  Set up the Windows 7 drive:

a. Power up the oscilloscope and allow Windows to find and load the necessary drivers. The oscilloscope should boot into a standard Windows desktop screen.

b. Open a browser window on the oscilloscope and enter https://www.keysight.com/find/infiniium-sw

c. Under the System Recovery Process headline, follow the instructions in steps 1, 2, and 3 to set the frame type, install the Infiniium software, and calibrate the touch screen.

d. Restore the calibration folder, license file, and any other files you saved.

e. Restart the oscilloscope application to ensure the license.dat file reflects any factory bandwidth licenses.

f. In the Infiniium application, choose Help > About Infiniium… and click the Save Support Information button to create a zipped file that gets saved to the desktop.

g. Contact Keysight by sending an email message to csg.support@keysight.com. Provide the License Manager screen shot page you captured earlier, the oscilloscope's model and serial number from the rear panel of the scope, and the .zip file you created in the previous step. Keysight will use this information to reassign the licenses to the new hard drive.

h. From the oscilloscope desktop, launch the oscilloscope application. When the application is active, perform a scope self-test (Utilities > Self Test...).

  4. Create a recovery image

            a. Double-click the Create Infiniium Recovery icon on the oscilloscope desktop to create a recovery partition.

b. When prompted, press any key to continue the procedure, which will execute two reboots. The procedure is finished when the oscilloscope application is running.
