New Capabilities of Calibration Refresh Modules Webcast
WHAT IS THE WEBCAST ABOUT
Calibration refresh modules, commonly known as CalPods, is a new and unique application of the ECal technology that can quickly and easily refresh a network analyzer calibration with the push of a button, and without disconnecting the DUT. For years, random errors have plagued the microwave test engineer. With the CalPod technology, many random errors can now be removed from the measurement. Environmental effects such as amplitude and phase changes due to movement or thermal variation of the test cables, as well as connector and switch matrix repeatability errors can all be removed from measurement of your DUT’s performance by utilizing CalPods to remove these errors. This presentation looks at the types of random errors that can be removed, the different types of measurement applications that will benefit from CalPods, shows an example of a CalPod re-correction, and shows various CalPod measurement configurations. If you are experiencing measurement errors due to environmental effects in your test system, this presentation will provide information on how to reduce or eliminate these environmental effects.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Microwave test engineers who experience measurement variations due to environmental effects such as movement of test cables, thermal variations in their test cables, or switch matrix and connector repeatability errors will find this presentation informative and useful. Typical measurements that benefit greatly from CalPods are thermal and thermal-vacuum chamber testing, measurement of cables, and any applications that require frequent re-calibrations.
PRESENTER
John Swanstrom, Application Engineer, Keysight Technologies
John Swanstrom has had extensive experience in RF and microwave measurement applications for vector network analyzers over his 39 year career. Currently he is involved in applications for the CalPod calibration refresh modules. Recent application experience has been with non-linear network analyzer applications, transmit-receive module testing, satellite test systems, as well as general network analyzer applications.
John joined Hewlett-Packard in 1985, and was a product manager for the popular HP 8510, 8720 and 8753 network analyzers, as well as being the product manager and application engineer for the antenna test product line for 15 years.
John started his career in the aerospace industry in 1974, designing RF & microwave devices and circuits. For 10 years, he was involved in the design, development, and testing of over 60 different types of antennas, most notably antennas for the GPS satellites and the space shuttles.
John received a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois in 1974, and a Master of Business Administration degree from California State University – Fullerton in 1984.
