Wireless standards impact wireless designs, from asset tracking and personal area networks, to LANs, WANs, and last mile solutions. Wireless standards constantly evolve to accommodate higher data rates, lower-power modules, and new forms of mobility. Keysight teams participate in a wide range of standards bodies to deliver the most up-to-date design and test resources across a variety of wireless standards.
Designing For Standards-Based Wireless Connectivity
Selecting the right design and test solutions is critical to achieving design goals for the wireless technologies you’ve selected. Discover for yourself why 24 of the top 25 technology companies use Keysight solutions to accelerate their wireless communication innovation.
Radio-frequency identification (RFID) uses electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects. Near Field Communication (NFC) standards are based on existing short-range RFID high frequency technologies working at 13.56 MHz.
NFC products appear today in many form factors. Electronic payment systems (e.g., contactless card payment and electronic wallets) are the most mainstream application. EMV™ contactless payment standards deliver a fast and secure method for transactions using proximity NFC payment devices.
Keysight offers modeling, development and test tools to help ensure the quality of RFID systems and components. In cooperation with its partner FIME, Keysight offers NFC and EMV conformance test tools. FIME Test Bench, based on Keysight’s NFC Test Set, is qualified for EMV Level 1 PICC/Mobile RF certification test.

ZigBee (IEEE 802.15.4) is a low data rate (20 to 250 kbps), extremely low duty-cycle (< 0.1%) system intended for periodic, intermittent, and repetitive low latency data transfer in the 868 MHz, 915 MHz and 2.4 GHz ISM bands. Its low power consumption and aggressive sleep modes enable a battery life of up to several years, while spectrum spreading at 2.4 GHz allows for operation from 1 m to greater than 100 m.
Keysight provides the signal generation and analysis tools you need to test the most common implementations of ZigBee.
WiMedia’s Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology is an ISO-published radio platform standard for high-speed ultra-wideband wireless connectivity. The technology uses MB-OFDM modulation spread over 528 MHz to achieve a high data transfer rate in wireless personal area networks.
Keysight offers a complete range of product solutions, from design simulation and test, signal generation and analysis, to measurement software and hardware equipment for developing UWB-compliant devices.
The Bluetooth standard enables the exchange of data over short distances from fixed and mobile devices, as well as from personal area networks. It operates in the 2.4 GHz unlicensed ISM frequency band. A power-efficient version of the standard, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), is ideal for many emerging IoT devices.
Keysight offers an extensive portfolio of Bluetooth® technology test instruments, software and systems that can be used throughout the communications product development cycle, from R&D to manufacturing. Its solutions span the range of Bluetooth technologies, including Bluetooth Basic Rate, Bluetooth Enhanced Data Rate and BLE 4.0, 4.2, and 5.0.
IEEE 802.11 is the standard for wireless local area network (WLAN) communications. It covers implementations in the 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz, 3.6 GHz, 5 GHz, and 60 GHz frequency bands. The latest 802.11 variants, 802.11ac, 802.11ad, and 802.11ax enable higher speed and capacity across a variety of enterprise, consumer, and industrial applications.
Keysight provides the industry’s most extensive offering of WLAN simulation and test solutions that span R&D, validation and manufacturing.
MIMO for Wi-Fi
Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) is a wireless antenna technology designed to improve spectral efficiency, signal quality, and cell coverage by utilizing multiple transmitters and receivers so more data can be transmitted at the same time. It is used in multiple standards, including LTE-Advanced and WLAN, and is crucial for 5G deployments.
Keysight's MIMO-specific measurement solutions span design, validation and manufacturing, providing engineers with deeper insight, especially as standards evolve.
WiMAXTM (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) is a family of standards developed by the WiMAX Forum to allow delivery of last mile wireless broadband access. Based on the IEEE 802.16 wide-area communications standards, WiMAX enables long-range wireless networking for both mobile and fixed connections.
Keysight’s design and test solutions for both fixed and mobile WiMAX and WiBro (including support for Wave 2 and MIMO), span the entire lifecycle from R&D, design verification and pre-conformance, to conformance test, manufacturing, installation, and maintenance.
Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) systems distribute digital video signals using a variety of approaches (e.g., satellite, cable, terrestrial, and mobile television) and an evolving array of standards like DVB-T and DVB-T2.
Keysight can help you make your mark in DVB with software solutions for DVB-T test and DVB-T2 test (including DVB-T2 Multi PLP, SFN and MISO), as well as hardware solutions for performing component, transmitter/exciter, and receiver testing on cable, satellite, terrestrial, and mobile transmission scheme applications.
