The W1712EP/ET SystemVue Distributed Computing 8-pack accelerates and manages multiple parameterized sweep simulations across high-performance distributed compute environments. It provides a comprehensive set of job creation, allocation and submission capabilities, and returns results to SystemVue as a single dataset. The W1712 works with the IBM Platform LSF and Univa Grid Engine distributed computing software to make sure jobs are automatically allocated to the right resources for maximum application performance and efficiency. Communications system architects, verification engineers, and baseband designers use the W1712 to accelerate architecture studies and verification suites, while reducing costs and accelerating time-to-results.
Accelerate Simulation Speed
With the stackable distributed computing 8-pack license policy, simulation speed can be accelerated by the size of the compute farm of your IT infrastructure – from 8x, 16x, 24x, 32x to a theoretical maximum number of processors for parallel simulation efficiency. Theoretically, the parallel simulation speed is proportional to the number of processors used at the same time. However, in practice, simulation speed depends on the simulation efficiency which is tightly related to various environmental factors such as, amount of network traffic and bandwidth, performance of load sharing utility, sequencing algorithm of job submission and allocation.
To maximize simulation efficiency, SystemVue provides a "SimManager" job management module that ensures efficient communication between the SystemVue engine and the load sharing utility Platform LSF.

Flexible Resource Utilization
The SystemVue Distributed Computing 8-pack provides flexible operation modes, ensuring that different types of resources (local or remote) are allocated to the simulation jobs, including user productivity and resource utilization. These modes are:
- None (local simulation, using SystemVue’s internal simulation engine)
- Local Parallel (local, but using a mixture of SystemVue’s internal simulation engine and additional W1711 SystemVue Engine licenses)
- IBM Platform LSF and Univa Grid Engine (remote)
"Local parallel" mode utilizes your local computing processing resources and executes the simulation in parallel with the assigned multiple event processors. "Platform LSF" mode uses the remote resources located in your cluster computing environments or computing server farm. You can easily switch these modes in the SystemVue graphical user interface (GUI) which enables more flexibility to perform complex simulation tasks depending on your company’s IT resources.
SystemVue standalone simulation engine
The SystemVue standalone simulation engine is the core of the distributed simulation feature that enables a pure parallel simulation, without any dependency between the processors executing its own jobs and processing tasks. For example, once you start a 10-point simulation sweep, the W1712EP/ET (distributed computing 8-pack) initiates 8 parallel simulation jobs, queueing the remaining 2 points, and allocates these jobs into available hardware resources of the cluster automatically. Each SystemVue engine runs independently until its job is completed. After all processes have terminated, SystemVue gathers the results and combines them into a single data set for analysis.
Key Application
In digital communications systems, bit error rate (BER) simulation and measurement tasks are far too costly and very time consuming as many parameters need to be changed during execution. Typically, BER simulation and measurement requires hours or even days of engineering time. If the task is for compliance testing to verify a system to a standard specification, it could even take weeks.

Also, any add-on libraries such as the W1905 Radar library must also be floating license.
