Create narrow pulse widths at carrier frequencies below 3.2 GHz
The PSG equipped with Option 1E6 provides narrow pulse modulation with fast rise and fall times in the 10 MHz to 3.2 GHz frequency range. Within this frequency band, Option 1E6 improves the pulse's rise and fall times by a factor of 10 compared to the standard pulse modulation performance. For frequencies above 3.2 GHz, the narrow pulse modulation is a standard feature on the E8257C PSG.

Typical applications
The narrow pulse modulation option is recommended for radar and electronic warfare applications below 3.2 GHz that require a narrow pulse width with fast rise and fall times. Fast rise and fall times are important for developers of L-band (1 to 2 GHz) radar, primarily used for long range surveillance and detection, and S-band (2 to 4 GHz) radar, used in weather observation and medium range military applications.
