End-to-End Real-World Performance Testing in the Lab - GTI Awarded 5G solution for Innovative Breakthrough in Mobile Technology

Keysight’s PROPSIM F64 first to market 5G channel emulator enables users to perform benchmarking in laboratory of devices, base stations, digital radio and sensor systems across the entire product workflow – from research, development, to acceptance and field performance optimization.

By performing a majority of the testing in a real-world like lab environment, users can optimize time to market with improved maturity and reduce costs related to product development and maintenance.

Industry-leading mobile device, modem and network equipment manufacturers use Keysight’s PROPSIM F64 radio channel emulator to integrate new 5G NR and 4G LTE product features and verify new hardware and software releases in a 24/7 automated test environment.

Many mobile network operators around the world use the PROPSIM F64 to validate 5G NR and LTE-A devices and base stations prior to product rollout or software deployment in operational networks.

Keysight's PROPSIM F64 supports a frequency range from 3MHz up to 44 GHz as well as GCM-MANET and Aerospace Emulation tool options for aerospace and defense applications. These unique capabilities enable users to validate a wide range of RF and mmWave applications in the aerospace, avionics, satellite and defense industries.

Key application areas include:

Real-time RF channel emulator for the most demanding test needs

The PROPSIM F64 RF Channel Emulator offers the industry’s highest emulation capacity, greatest number of fading channels and widest signal bandwidth. Its superior RF performance for RF channel emulation address the most demanding test needs for users in both the wireless and aerospace defense industry.

Versatile channel emulation and modeling software to simplify complex testing

The sophisticated channel modeling software applications and ease of use emulation control software allow user to quickly initiate testing and create new scenario-based test cases.

Keysight’s PROPSIM Geometric Channel Modeling tool (GCM) simplifies the creation of multi-link test scenarios for wireless testing and special radio systems testing. The GCM tool supports user defined 3D spatial scenarios and dynamic modeling of movement for 5G NR FR1 and FR2 as well as LTE-A testing by using following models (3GPP TR 38.901 / TR 36.873):

  • UMi, UMa, O2I and I2O
  • CDL and TDL
  • SCME

The GCM tool also supports Ray-tracing data import and 3D Antenna parameter inclusion in to channel model. It offers 3GPP defined channel models to test V2X safety applications as well as for on board Wi-Fi and cellular connection. In addition, Device-to-Device, V2X topologies and 3GPP channel models are supported for automotive testing. The GCM tool provides an interface to import data, which allows advanced users to bring test scenario data from external simulation tools. This makes PROPSIM a powerful platform enabling users to create complex environmental emulations with few clicks.

Keysight’s Virtual Drive Testing (VDT) Toolset enables users to perform RF field-to-lab test scenarios. Users can easily import 5G NR, LTE, WCDMA, GSM RF data to a lab environment using Keysight’s Nemo drive test tools or an equivalent drive test tool with an open file format interface.

Keysight’s WLAN modeling tool allows users to quickly create complex 802.11ax channel model realizations.

PROPSIM F64 RF Channel Emulator supports test cases defined by CTIA for MIMO OTA testing as well as by mobile operators related to the testing of devices and base stations operating in high-speed train and massive MIMO scenarios.
