The new Keysight 8160xA tunable laser sources are based on a common cavity and laser module design. They share a narrow line width and a low spontaneous emission level that, in combination with the Keysight N774xA multiport power meters, or the Keysight 816xxx power meter modules, enables excellent spectral loss measurement ranges in both stop band and pass band. A built-in gas cell and self-adjustment capabilities ensure excellent long-term stability to minimize cost of ownership. Within the 8160xA family, the Value Line and Basic Line models offer additional price-performance options based on output power, tuning modes and speed, wavelength accuracy and repeatability.

The 81607A value line tunable laser module complements the top line 81606A model at a more moderate output power. With a typical wavelength repeatability of ±1 pm even during two-way sweeps with up to 200 nm/s, it is ideal for high-throughput test and automated adjustment of passive optical components. A signal-to-SSE ratio of 75 dB/nm, enabled by the new cavity and laser module design, provides an excellent isolation measurement range for the most demanding optical components.

The 81607A tunable laser source is supported by the N7700A photonic application suite software for spectral measurements of insertion loss, polarization dependent loss and dispersion in combination with power meters and polarization instruments. These provide optimal swept-wavelength accuracy and dynamic range.
