89601A

Now get even more out of your 54850 Series Infiniium oscilloscopes. All of the features of these high performance oscilloscopes - 20 GSa/s sampling on all channels, 6GHz bandwidth (real-time), and more - can be combined with Keysight's 89601A vector signal analysis software to do FFT based spectrum analysis, demodulation and analysis of RF signals.

FFT based spectrum analysis
The 89601A provides all of the features you need to do an FFT on any signal you can measure with the 54850 series oscilloscopes. FFT tools include a variable block size (51 to 102,401), a selection of windowing functions, overlap and non-overlap processing to handle files larger than 102,401 samples. You can display signal phase and magnitude with a selection of display units (volts, dB, °) markers, and more.

FFT based spectrum analysis provides better frequency resolution (i.e. narrower resolution bandwidth) than traditional swept analysis along with advanced features. Use the flexible resolution bandwidth capability to set the RBW you need, not 1-3-5 selection sequence many swept analyzers demand. Use the time gating feature to analyze only the portion of the time waveform between two user-settable markers. This is particularly useful on communication signals that contain preambles and/or midambles along with the data payload. Activate the spectrogram display to monitor signal tuning/drift over time or spot frequency hopping signals and the frequencies they land on.

Flexible modulation analysis
Many demodulation packages work only on specific signals, mostly wireless communication signals like GSM and WCDMA. The 89601 software has that capability and it also offers flexible, or general purpose, demodulation and analysis. The flexible demodulation option (Option AYA) provides 24 demodulators all programmable in center frequency, symbol rate (i.e. bandwidth), filter type and filter shape (alpha). Use these tools to demodulate and analyze ultra high bandwidth satellite communications. Measure EVM, MER, IQ offset, frequency offset, amplitude and phase error, rho and more. Capture chirped radar bursts and measure chirp linearity. All of this and more is available with the 54850/89601A combination.

Time domain measurements
This capability is used to facilitate setting up FFT and demodulation measurements. Use this feature to set-up trigger points, select the portion of a signal burst that will be analyzed and more.

The 89601A software runs on an external PC or inside the 54850 series oscilloscopes. Extensive on line help text is included.
