This paper discusses the Electrical and Optical Transmitter Characterizations of 100G and 400G class standards. It discusses the techniques to make accurate and consistent measurements. The new measurements introduced with the advent of PAM-4 in both electrical and optical domains are explained. TDECQ and 12 Edge Jitter measurement techniques are also discussed in detail.
