Modern Base Station Testing for Massive MIMO and Beamforming Performance
Modern base station products support multiple radio access technologies and enable flexible, reconfigurable deployment, while delivering significantly increased network capacity. However, these capabilities also introduce substantial system-level complexity, particularly in cellular networks where beam management procedures and UE-to-network interoperability can directly impact performance. Massive MIMO, multi-user operation, and beamforming provide major gains over previous cellular generations, but require accurate precoding across multiple users, robust mobility handling, and effective interference management under diverse channel conditions. Any weakness in these areas can lead to unstable throughput and degraded user experience. Additionally, massive MIMO validation demands test systems with a high number of RF ports and strict phase coherence, increasing lab setup complexity and placing greater emphasis on calibration accuracy.
