Keysight Eggplant Monitoring Support for Core Web Vitals

We're excited to announce that Keysight Eggplant Monitoring now fully supports all three Core Web Vitals metrics, with the recent addition of Interaction to Next Paint (INP). This means you have complete coverage of Google's gold-standard framework for measuring real-world web performance — all in one place.

What Are Core Web Vitals?

Core Web Vitals are a set of metrics defined by Google to measure the aspects of web performance that matter most to users. They focus on three pillars of user experience:

LCP — Largest Contentful Paint: How fast does your page load its main content? A good LCP score means users aren't left staring at a blank or partially loaded screen.

CLS — Cumulative Layout Shift: How visually stable is your page? Poor CLS means buttons and text jump around as the page loads — frustrating and disorienting for users.

INP — Interaction to Next Paint: How quickly does your page respond to user interactions? INP measures the delay between a click, tap, or keystroke and the moment the browser paints the resulting visual change.

Together, these three metrics give you a holistic picture of how fast, stable, and responsive your web experience truly is.

What Is INP — and Why Does It Matter?

INP replaced First Input Delay (FID) as a Core Web Vital in March 2024, and for good reason. While FID only captured the delay before the browser began processing a user's first interaction, INP monitors all interactions throughout the entire page lifecycle — giving a far more accurate picture of perceived responsiveness.

Think about clicking a button that takes a second to visually respond, or a dropdown that lags before opening. These friction points erode user trust and directly impact conversion rates. Google uses Core Web Vitals as a ranking signal, so poor INP can also hurt your search visibility.

The benchmarks to aim for:

✅ Good: under 200ms

⚠️ Needs Improvement: 200–500ms

❌ Poor: above 500ms
