From Requirements to Test Cases: Keysight Generator & Eggplant 25.3
Software testing often breaks down at the point where it should begin: translating requirements into usable test cases. It’s a slow, error-prone task that drains time and leaves gaps in coverage. With the release of Eggplant 25.3 and the new Keysight Generator, we’re introducing a more efficient, reliable way to bridge that gap. By combining automation with secure, domain-aware AI, teams can now generate high-quality test assets directly from requirement documents, reducing manual effort while improving accuracy and traceability.
The Hidden Cost of Manual Test Design
If you’ve ever spent hours deciphering requirements or building out test cases from vague specs and user stories, you know the struggle.
Manual test design is one of the most time-consuming, error-prone parts of the software development lifecycle. Requirements often come in various formats—spreadsheets, PDFs, user stories, policy documents—some precise, others cryptic. QA teams must translate all of this into testable steps, juggling evolving specs, domain rules, and compliance mandates along the way.
And even after weeks of scripting, the final test suite often lacks full coverage. Edge cases slip through the cracks. Traceability becomes a nightmare. And worst of all? Every time a requirement changes, it’s back to square one.
This isn’t just inefficient. It’s risky.
Meet Keysight Generator: Your AI-Powered Test Design Partner
What if you could automatically turn requirements into test cases, eliminating the need for manual scripting? What if those test cases were domain-aware, audit-ready, and traceable to the original requirement?
Enter Keysight Generator.
Built into the Eggplant ecosystem, Keysight Generator uses secure, on-premise Generative AI to convert requirements into high-quality test assets, both Gherkin scenarios and manual test cases, in just minutes.
Here’s how it works:
- Upload your requirements in Excel or CSV format—user stories, system specs, functional descriptions.
- Optionally add domain context—SOPs, glossaries, standards, or regulations.
- Click Generate. Instantly, the system creates tailored test assets, complete with traceability, scenario variety, and contextual alignment.
- Review, refine, and export to your favorite testing tools, or run them directly in Eggplant Test.
In other words, Generator doesn’t just help you test faster, it helps you test smarter.
Why This Changes Everything
Context-Aware Test Creation
Unlike one-size-fits-all AI tools, Keysight Generator learns your domain. Whether you work in healthcare, finance, aerospace, or any highly regulated industry, you can upload your internal standards, regulatory documents, or policy manuals—and Generator will use that knowledge to shape the output.
This means your tests don’t just “check a box.” They reflect real-world use cases, terminology, compliance needs, and industry nuance.
Secure, On-Prem AI
In an era of growing data sensitivity, we designed Generator to run locally or within your private cloud, keeping your IP, customer data, and test artifacts completely secure.
No data leaves your environment. No external AI calls. Full compliance, total control.
You can even plug in your own LLM (or use Keysight’s optimized one), giving you maximum flexibility without compromising security or trust.
Speed Meets Quality
One customer recently used Keysight Generator to produce test assets for 48 requirements in just 30 minutes—a task that had previously taken three weeks.
That’s not a one-off. Across industries, QA teams are reporting:
•70–90% reduction in manual authoring effort
•Faster iterations in agile and CI/CD environments
•Improved traceability and audit readiness
•Fewer missed edge cases
•Greater confidence in release quality
What’s New in Eggplant 25.3?
As well as the launch of Keysight Generator, Eggplant 25.3 brings a host of powerful new features across both Eggplant DAI and Eggplant Functional to boost performance, flexibility, and integration with modern environments.
With DAI 25.3, you can now run multiple instances of the same test configuration in parallel with different filters or parameters directly from the DAI Runner page, helping you reduce the number of test configs needed and speed up execution. Git integration has been moved from Eggplant Functional (EPF) to the DAI Run Agent, boosting performance during suite syncing and giving you more control over your Git client setup. Logging has been improved to clearly show overridden parameters and filters in test config logs, while model-based test configurations now support global parameter overrides, allowing greater reuse of your test assets. You’ll also find support for Eggplant Cloud hosted execution in containers (e.g., Kubernetes environments), and enhanced secure credential management with secrets now handled via Windows Credential Manager or environment variables.
EPF 25.3 adds support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 (all versions), enabling seamless operation on the latest RHEL platforms. This update ensures compatibility for customers modernizing their infrastructure and simplifies deployment in enterprise Linux environments.
